Cat Gif-A-Palooza

So at various times throughout Cat Every Day August, Caroline would drop by and leave cat gifs for me. So I figured, what better way to close out the month than to share those cat gifs with you right now?

Thank you for joining me this month, and hopefully you enjoyed Cat Every Day August!

Cat of the Day: Red

Today's Cat of the Day is... wait a minute, this can't be right. Red? But... but he's a rabbit.

Okay, okay, relax! Yeesh! Well, I guess Red was feeling left out, being the only critter in a house full of cats who didn't get his own day this August. So, well, okay, if it's alright with all of you, then I guess that means that today the Cat of the Day can, indeed, be my Little Red Rabbit!

Red's not the most sociable of rabbits. I've had him for a few years now, and yet he's still shy even around me. He also has moments where he'll actually growl at you, showing that he's got a bit of a mean streak in him as well.

AHH! Well, um, but while he may not always be the friendliest rabbit, he's certainly a very patient one! He has a tendency to get really dirty at times, so I've had to give him baths on several occasions, and he won't ever try to fight with me at all. He just stands as still as can be anytime I've had to do so, like a good little bunny.

He's also an adventurous one. He knows how to break out of his pinned-in little area, and he'll just wait till nobody's around to go out and explore. I'm always worried that he's gonna either get stuck in some kind of small crevice or just chew up all our wires whenever he gets loose, though.

What? I didn't even say anything bad that time! Anyways, yeah, so I guess Red's an alright little guy. Alright enough at least to be today's Cat of the Day, despite not even being a cat!

Cat of the Day: Shiki

Today's Cat of the Day is Shiki. She's one of the cats who Max ran off a few years back, and she now lives at the neighbor's house across the street. She's a white cat with different colored eyes, one being blue, and the other green. And, well, yeah, other than that, I honestly don't know much of anything about her. Not even why she is, in fact, the Cat of the Day...

Velcro: The Ninja Kat - Now Available!

Sneaking up on you like a ninja, Velcro is now available to own! I've been both excited and terrified of this day for some time, but finally the anticipation is over. You can order your copy today on amazon.com in either paperback ($5.99) or on e-book for Kindle ($0.99).

I'm really proud of this book, it's something that I've been playing with for pretty much my whole life, and have spent the past few years finally getting it written down in book form. Those who've read it so far have generally been pleased by it, and it's even already received a fairly positive review from YA Urban, with hopefully more to follow. So I hope you'll check it out and enjoy it as well!

And while I've got you here, be sure to 'like' Velcro on Facebook, follow Velcro on Twitter, and check out the official website for all of your Ninja Kat related needs!

Cat of the Day: Max

Max is the king of the land over at my dad's house. And he's also today's king of cats, because today, Max is the Cat of the Day!

He's a really good kitty, and any time you drive up, he'll come prancing over to your car to greet you, and he'll follow you all the way to the door.

Max is a very loyal kitty. He loves his people, and he'll protect them from anyone he deems unsuitable. After my dad's house burned down a few years ago and all of their cats became outdoor cats, some of my dad's cats ran away. And of the cats who stuck around, well, let's just say that Max didn't take too kindly to them, so he ran them all off, too.

GET OFF MY DAMN YARD!!!!

Yup, he ran off all but one other cat, Salena, who he allowed to remain living there until she passed away a couple years back. But throughout the months when my dad's house was being rebuilt, Max stuck around and watched over the place. And now Max is the lone cat of the house, and he definitely runs the place, even keeping the dogs in check. They know who's boss.

Max don't take shit from any other animals, but like I said, he loves his people, and he's as sweet as can be to his family. What an awesome cat!

Cat of the Day: Smokey

Adam and Liza's other cat is Smokey. She actually started out as one of my dad's cats until my brother came to acquire her at some point. But no matter whose cat Smokey is, today, Smokey is the Cat of the Day.

Despite her puffy appearance in these pictures, she's actually quite a slinky thing. In fact, she's exactly the perfect type of kitty for when it comes time to wrestle.

You can just contort her and wrap her around into all sorts of positions for grappling holds and slams. I used to wrestle her all the time when she lived at my dad's house, which she wasn't necessarily a fan of. But she would always find it in her heart to forgive me and hop right back into my lap within minutes.

See, she's a total lap cat. She could just lie in your lap all day long like it was nothing. And in a house full of cats who tried to scramble away anytime you'd try to hold them, she was a refreshing change of pace in that regard. What a sweetheart.

Cat of the Day: Dexter

Dexter is the cat of my brother, Adam, and his wife, Liza. And he is also today's Cat of the Day. I'm honestly not too familiar with him, though from the time that I have spent with him, he's always seemed like a nice cat. I almost always walk in on him lying on his back. And, well, honestly, he tends to remain in that position throughout most of the time that I see him.

But he's a very social kitty, and he'll always greet you and try to hold a little small talk to catch up on things. And he'll let you rub him and love him, but it's not too long before he wanders off and plops right back down onto his back again.

So yeah, Dexter's a pretty cool kitty, and he's always a pleasure to see whenever I visit my brother's house.

Character Profile: The Ninja Kat

Is the Ninja Kat a hero, or a villain? That's the debate amongst the citizens of the Country of Widows, who aren't quite sure what to make of the Ninja Kat's actions. But while not a whole lot is known about this mysterious character, one thing is for sure: The Ninja Kat has targeted the Devil Corps, and for better or worse, the country has taken notice.

The Expendables 2

The Expendables 2 was a blast. Much, much better than the first one. So let's start by just naming off the cast to this thing. We've got Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and then some guy named Liam Hemsworth. So, yeah, pretty stacked roster for the second outing of this new franchise, and this time they definitely deliver the goods.

I joked at the trailers when they flashed Liam Hemsworth's name that "one of these things is not like the others", yet he honestly holds his own with the rest of these big name action stars. He really impressed me during his scenes, and in fact his performance was one of the standouts of the whole movie. So who knows, maybe this franchise will be the starting point to launch a career for him, and we've got a whole new action star in the making here.

As for the rest of the guys, they don't disappoint, either. Jet Li is actually allowed to look good, though his role in this movie is more of a cameo than anything else. But considering how much of a joke they made him out to be in the first one, I didn't have too big a problem with them letting him bow out gracefully early on before they had the chance to repeat that mistake. He's then replaced by Yu Nan, who plays the Chinese agent Maggie, because apparently there's only room for one Asian at a time on screen in this franchise.

Stallone and Statham both do their thing, and Lundgren's been relegated to pretty much pure comic relief. But we actually do get to see a little bit more from Crews and Couture this time around. Couture's acting still leaves much to be desired, though it's an improvement from the first movie, and he actually walks away with the funniest one-liner in the whole movie during a conversation over what their last meal would be. Schwarzenegger and Willis' roles are extended from the last film, and you can just see in their faces how much fun they're having here. They make reference to a lot of these stars' prior films, such as The Terminator, Rambo, and Die Hard, and while these moments are definitely eye-rollers, I still admittedly got a bit of a kick out of them.

And as for newcomers to the franchise, Chuck Norris comes walking on screen with his meme fully intact (seriously, they actually had the nerve to throw in a Chuck Norris joke), but the big standout was Jean-Claude Van Damme, who plays the villain this time around. And my god is this guy bad ass. He actually feels like a legitimate, menacing threat every time he's on screen, which, you know, kinda makes sense. I mean, he's freaking Jean-Claude Van Damme!

So the story is... well, who cares really? Nobody's watching this thing for the story, it's all about the action. And there's no super awkward emotional moments, such as the five minute uber close-up on Mickey Rourke's ugly mug from the first one, where they try to force the theme of the movie on us and get us to take things seriously. Nah, this one scraps all of that nonsense and goes right for the jugular. The action is bloody and thrilling. And while there isn't any one single moment that's quite as exciting as the Terry Crews mow down from the first movie, as an overall experience, this movie is much more satisfying, and it's all because of one major reason: No shakey cam.

That's right, they finally learned. Shakey cam single handedly ruined the first movie, taking all of their super intense action sequences and rendering them entirely pointless by the sheer fact that we couldn't actually see any of that intense action that was taking place on the screen. And it was my biggest worry going into this one, but thankfully shakey cam is nowhere to be seen here. All of the action is clear as day for us to enjoy in all its explosiony glory. Most of it is basically just your typical shoot 'em up style of action, but there's several other fight scenes that were also very exciting. Jason Statham fights off a slew of men, dressed as a priest in a church, in which he uses knives and chains to battle 'em off in divine fashion. And we're treated to an awesome, bloody brawl between Stallone and Van Damme, which I found to be very enjoyable.

So yeah, this movie delivers on the promise that the first movie didn't quite live up to. It's not a perfect movie, and honestly, when compared to such movies as The Raid, it's not even the best action movie of the year. But The Expendables 2 is still a very fun (and very funny) movie, and one that's definitely worth checking out for any fan of the genre.

...

Oh, yeah, and since this is still supposed to be Cat Every Day August...

My Secret Asian Clone or: I Am Not Yet Heechul

So we all have those people who we're constantly confused for. Or, well, maybe you don't, but I sure do at least. There's at least one or two people in town who apparently look exactly like me, and who I get confused for all the time. One of them played basketball at Leon apparently. I've never actually met my in-town "clone", however, I have recently discovered that, on the other side of the world, specifically in Korea, I have another clone. A Secret Asian Clone, if you will. However, this clone isn't one who resembles me physically. No, me and my Secret Asian Clone, it's more of a personality thing. So anyways, let's talk about cats!

My Korean clone's name is Heechul. He's kind of in a Korean boy band called Super Junior, but that's not important to this post. What's important is his approach to cats. He has four cats, three of which I can't name, because, you know, Korean. But his fourth cat, Heebum, is the superstar of the bunch. Heechul posts all kinds of crazy pictures of his cats and the crap he puts them through. The same kind of crap that I put my own cats through (he totally has wrestling matches with his cats!). I actually kind of wish I had thought to take pictures and videos of said crap, but, alas, it would appear that I've been beaten to the punch.

Heechul even has his own radio show, and he'll on occasion bring his cat, Heebum, along with him. He has had his cat perform a live, extravagant dance sequence, as well as attack one of his band members against his will. But enough talk, let's see some more examples of this awesomeness.

Heechul is an awesome cat owner, one who really gets it, and appreciates his cats. And if his cats are anything like my own, they appreciate the craziness, too, and love him unquestionably for it. But Heechul isn't just good with cats, he's a pretty decent guy in general. For instance, while walking around one day, he ran into a sad, lonely friend of his who was just dancing by himself, all sad and lonely. So, in order to rectify this, Heechul put together a music video where he gathered up a bunch of people to hang out with this sad and lonely friend in order to put an end to the sad and loneliness. See, check it out for yourself here:

What an upstanding guy!

Cat of the Day: Zeke

Caroline and Cynthia's other cat, Zeke, is today's Cat of the Day. He's a much kinder cat than Scotch, and in fact, it was his kindness that ultimately landed him a starring role in my movie, The Red Scarf. That's right, this kitty's a star, and he's already busting down doors and setting his sights on bigger and better things to come.

But yeah, this cat is great. I abused the hell out of him during the shoot, yet he never held a grudge against me for it. He still happily climbs onto my lap whenever I come over to visit, and he enjoys getting rubbed all over.

He looks like a big cat, but poor thing, he's really actually quite scrawny. He's an old man, though his big, puffy fur does a good job at hiding that fact and retaining his lion-like appearance.

With everything going for him, Zeke never let his fame and fortune to get his head. He remembers his roots, and he actively maintains a healthy friendship with his people, as well as his old pal, Scotch (at least, as much as Scotch will allow!). What a kind old kitty!

Cat of the Day: Scotch

Today's Cat of the Day is Scotch. And it's about time, too, 'cause this cat's been waiting ever so patiently to have his day since I first started doing Cat of the Day.

He is the evil pet of my friends Caroline and Cynthia. And no, I'm not even joking, this cat is evil pussonified. Seriously, take another look at that sinister glint in his eye.

Evil!

Yesterday, I talked about the character of Charlie from my upcoming book, Velcro: The Ninja Kat. The real Charlie, who the character is based off of, was pretty much exactly as described. And, thinking on it, Scotch retains many of those same traits characterized there as well. He's also a bit of an ass, a cat who likes to start trouble. And he's not afraid to put his claws to use. Seriously, I still have marks on my arm from when he tore me up several months ago.

Evil!

But, also like Charlie, Scotch has his lovable moments, too. Whenever he decides to come out of hiding and be sociable, he might just surprise you by hopping onto your lap to cuddle. But watch out, if you try to pet him even a little too much, he'll be quick to show his appreciation with a nice, clean swipe. Like I said, evil.

Ev-awwwww!
